3D Systems Opens Industrial Technology Center in Colorado

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 21, US additive manufacturing company 3D Systems announced the official opening of its Industrial Technology Center in Littleton, Colorado, adding approximately 4,650 square meters of production and office space. The facility will primarily handle additive manufacturing development, process qualification, and series production of components for aerospace, defense, and semiconductor equipment. Following the expansion, the company's total advanced manufacturing footprint in the United States and Europe reaches approximately 25,100 square meters. The new site will take on industrial orders that demand stringent manufacturing process validation and product quality certification.

The new center integrates metal additive manufacturing equipment, materials application, engineering software, and process development resources, enabling customers to complete part design validation, manufacturing process optimization, product quality certification, and scaled production within a single facility. The Littleton site has previously accumulated manufacturing experience with strictly regulated products such as medical devices, and its existing process validation, quality control, and production workflows will be applied to component manufacturing tasks for aerospace and semiconductor equipment customers.

Production qualifications are a key component of this facility's commissioning. The Littleton site holds ISO 9001 and AS9100D quality management system certifications, has completed registration under the US International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Joint Certification Program (JCP), and meets relevant Level 2 requirements of the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC). Among these, the AS9100D system covers aerospace manufacturing quality management, while JCP registration involves procedures for accessing and using controlled defense technical data.

According to the manufacturing layout announced by 3D Systems, the Colorado center handles industrial component application development, process qualification, and qualified product production; the South Carolina site is responsible for manufacturing large-scale metal 3D printing equipment; and the California team advances a multi-phase metal additive manufacturing system development project funded by the US Air Force. The three facilities will respectively undertake equipment R&D, equipment production, and end-component manufacturing tasks, with the integration of related operations still proceeding according to subsequent investment plans.
