en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 29, Petrobras confirmed a third oil-bearing interval in the Morpho exploration well in Block FZA-M-59 offshore Amapá State, and completed drilling and geological data acquisition for the well. The block is located in the ultra-deepwater area of the Amazon River Mouth Basin, with an operating water depth of 2,886 meters. This discovery came from continued evaluation of other target intervals in the well; the same well had previously encountered oil twice, in August and early October of this year.

The well is designated 1-BRSA-1405-APS. Previous drilling operations identified deeper oil-bearing intervals through electrical logging, rock samples and fluid sampling. The latest discovery was confirmed after continued evaluation of other target intervals, and all three discoveries are located within the Morpho exploration well.

After completion of drilling and geological data acquisition, Petrobras will plug and abandon the Morpho well. The NS-42 drillship, which carried out the drilling operations, will then move to the Potiguar Basin offshore Rio Grande do Norte State, Brazil, to drill the Mãe de Ouro target well.
