China's High-Altitude Regions Reach 528 Million Kilowatts of New Energy Installed Capacity

en.Wedoany.com Reported - As of the end of September 2026, the installed capacity of new energy power generation in China's high-altitude regions reached 528 million kilowatts, accounting for 25.6% of the country's total new energy installed capacity. Data provided by the China Electricity Council on November 1 shows that wind power installed capacity stood at 197 million kilowatts, accounting for 28.1% of the country's total wind power installed capacity; solar power installed capacity reached 327 million kilowatts, accounting for 24.9% of the country's total solar power installed capacity; and concentrated solar power (CSP) installed capacity reached 2.12 million kilowatts.

In terms of power source structure, the share of new energy installed capacity in plateau regions rose from an average of 28.5% over the past five years to 52.9%, 4.4 percentage points higher than the national average. According to data presented by Jiang Debin, Deputy Director of the Statistics and Digital Intelligence Department of the China Electricity Council, in the seven provinces and autonomous regions with an average altitude above 1,500 meters, the scale of new energy installed capacity grew from 144 million kilowatts to 476 million kilowatts over the past five years, with an average annual growth rate of 34.8%.

The "Analysis and Forecast Report on National Power Supply and Demand in the Third Quarter of 2026" released by the China Electricity Council on October 29 shows that as of the end of September, the country's grid-connected wind power installed capacity reached 700 million kilowatts, grid-connected solar power installed capacity reached 1.31 billion kilowatts, and CSP installed capacity stood at 2.32 million kilowatts. In the first three quarters, the combined newly added installed capacity of wind and solar power nationwide was 170 million kilowatts, accounting for 67.8% of the total newly added power generation installed capacity.
