T5 Offshore Wind Installation Terminal at the Port of Gdańsk, Poland Officially Opens
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 30, the T5 offshore wind installation terminal at the Port of Gdańsk, Poland was officially opened. The terminal was constructed by the NDI Group, with Istrana as the investor. Once completed, it will serve as an installation and logistics base for Baltic offshore wind projects, handling the reception, storage, pre-assembly and loading of wind turbines and related components, and providing port infrastructure support for Poland's offshore wind project construction.

The T5 terminal is located in the Baltic Hub area of the Port of Gdańsk, covering an area of more than 21 hectares. Its main facilities include two cargo handling quays, one roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) berth, and supporting storage yards and operational areas. The Outbound quay is approximately 451 meters long and can accommodate jack-up vessels used for offshore wind turbine installation; the Inbound quay is approximately 350 meters long and mainly receives wind turbines and other offshore wind equipment components, with a supporting Ro-Ro berth of approximately 105 meters for equipment loading, unloading and transfer. The terminal will also have the potential for repurposing in the future, and can be used for container and other cargo handling according to market demand.
The construction work involved multiple aspects, including quay pile foundations, land reclamation by hydraulic filling, reinforced concrete superstructures on the quay, and storage yard surfaces. The NDI Group disclosed that the project set four key milestones: pile foundation construction, hydraulic filling works, quay superstructure construction, and obtaining the use permit, with the last completed by the end of August 2026. Considering the requirements of large offshore wind equipment for the load-bearing capacity and drainage conditions of the storage yard surfaces, the project also adopted corresponding ground structure and drainage designs.
The T5 terminal will in the future serve the construction of Poland's offshore wind projects. Among them, the Baltica 2 offshore wind project jointly developed by PGE and Ørsted plans to use the terminal for wind turbine component storage, pre-assembly and offshore installation operations; the BC-Wind project developed by Ocean Winds has also reserved relevant terminal usage resources and plans to use the facility in subsequent construction phases. NDI previously disclosed that the terminal will primarily serve as an offshore wind installation base for the first approximately 10 to 15 years, after which its use may be adjusted according to market demand.
The opening of the terminal supplements the port handling and large equipment distribution capacity required for offshore wind construction along Poland's Baltic coast, helping to connect wind turbine component transport, port pre-assembly and offshore installation. The project was commissioned by Istrana, supported by funding from Poland's National Recovery Plan and the Polish Development Fund, with the NDI Group serving as the general contractor.
