T-Mobile Launches 5Gbps Symmetrical Fiber Broadband Service in the US

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On November 2, US telecom operator T-Mobile launched the Fiber 5 Gig home fiber broadband plan, offering symmetrical upload and download speeds of up to 5Gbps, with orders opening in eligible service areas starting November 3. The new plan costs $90 per month for customers using autopay, plus taxes and fees. The company also introduced a 10-year price guarantee on basic internet service, further expanding its existing fiber broadband product lineup.

Fiber 5 Gig uses a direct fiber-to-the-home connection and supports symmetrical upstream and downstream transmission. The plan includes unlimited data service, a Wi-Fi router at no extra monthly rental, and free professional installation. It does not require users to sign an annual service contract, nor does it require bundling with a T-Mobile mobile communications plan. Eligible households can also receive Mesh Wi-Fi extension devices to expand indoor wireless network coverage.

Under the price guarantee arrangement for the new plan, users who activate Fiber 5 Gig can maintain the monthly price of basic fiber internet data service for the next 10 years. This guarantee does not cover taxes and fees, charges incurred from user-initiated equipment upgrades or speed upgrades, certain limited-time promotions, pay-per-use items, or third-party service fees. Plan pricing is subject to the applicable terms at the time the user completes activation.

T-Mobile also announced a limited-time promotion for new users. Eligible Fiber 5 Gig users can receive a discount equivalent to two months of monthly fees through two bill credits, and can receive a $300 virtual prepaid card after meeting redemption requirements. The prepaid card is expected to be issued within 14 weeks after installation is completed, and users who cancel service within the first year may be required to repay the corresponding promotional amount.

Following this product adjustment, T-Mobile Fiber now offers four tiers of home fiber broadband plans: 300Mbps, 1Gbps, 2Gbps, and 5Gbps. Among them, the 300Mbps tier is priced at a limited-time monthly fee of $35, the 1Gbps tier at a limited-time monthly fee of $55, the 2Gbps tier at $70 per month, and the 5Gbps tier at $90 per month, all calculated based on autopay conditions, with taxes and fees additional. The promotional eligibility for each tier is subject to the specific service address and local promotional conditions.
