en.Wedoany.com Reported - On November 4, US road infrastructure company Construction Partners (NASDAQ: ROAD) announced that it has acquired Piedmont Paving, Inc., headquartered in Newnan, Georgia. The target company primarily undertakes site development and asphalt paving work for public and private projects in the Atlanta metropolitan area. The acquisition involves one hot-mix asphalt plant and more than 110 employees, and the related operations have been integrated into The Scruggs Company, Construction Partners' Georgia operating platform.

The assets acquired from Piedmont Paving include not only road paving operations but also an asphalt production facility and construction crews in Newnan. Construction Partners stated that the Newnan plant's location, the target company's workforce and its existing customer relationships will complement The Scruggs Company's existing operations. The acquisition further expands the company's coverage along Interstate 85 between Columbus and Atlanta, strengthening its ability to undertake public and private infrastructure projects in west-central Georgia.

The transaction is also part of Construction Partners' ongoing expansion of its Georgia footprint. In May 2024, the company acquired Auburn-based Sunbelt Asphalt Surfaces, obtaining an operating hot-mix asphalt plant, associated construction crews and equipment, as well as a new asphalt plant site in Commerce that was planned to open that summer. In August of the same year, the company acquired Columbus-based Robinson Paving Company, adding three hot-mix asphalt plants and supporting construction crews and equipment. Both transactions were placed under The Scruggs Company. The acquisition of Newnan-based Piedmont Paving further adds production and construction resources to the platform on the south side of the Atlanta metropolitan area.

Construction Partners operates a business model that combines road construction with asphalt materials production. In its 10-Q filing for the third quarter of fiscal year 2026, the company disclosed that its main operations include hot-mix asphalt production and sales, road base construction and asphalt paving, site development, utility and drainage system installation, aggregate mining, and liquid asphalt cement distribution. Hot-mix asphalt is used both for the company's own contracted projects and sold to third-party customers. The asphalt plant and construction crews added by Piedmont Paving are thus integrated into the company's existing production, materials supply and road construction operations.
