en.Wedoany.com Reported - On November 5, Norwegian energy engineering company Aker Solutions received a letter of intent for award from Vietnam's PTSC Mechanical & Construction (PTSC M&C) to undertake detailed engineering design work for the Maydan Mahzam offshore field modification project in Qatar. The contract falls within the company's defined contract size range of NOK 500 million to NOK 1.5 billion. The final contract is still pending signature, and the project owner is QatarEnergy.

The detailed design scope covers topsides for 3 large offshore platforms, 4 jackets, and tie-in modification works between new facilities and existing field facilities. The related work is part of the field modification engineering package undertaken by PTSC M&C, and the design tasks will be executed by Aker Solutions' engineering teams in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Mumbai, India.

The Maydan Mahzam field is located approximately 100 kilometers northeast of the coast of Qatar and approximately 28 kilometers southeast of Halul Island, in water depths of approximately 40 meters. QatarEnergy is implementing a large-scale field modification program to upgrade offshore production facilities and extend the operating life of the field. PTSC M&C has been selected as the contractor for a major engineering package of this modification program.

Aker Solutions plans to book the design contract as new orders in the company's Renewable and Field Development business segment in the fourth quarter of 2026, following signature of the final contract. The scope of work corresponding to the letter of intent is detailed engineering design, and the contract value range reflects Aker Solutions' internal contract size classification and is not a confirmed actual transaction price.
