en.Wedoany.com Reported - On November 4, Greek shipowner Navios Maritime Partners disclosed agreements to acquire 3 additional tankers for a total transaction value of $215.2 million, comprising 1 Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) and 2 MR2 product tankers. All three vessels are newbuildings equipped with exhaust gas cleaning systems and are expected to be delivered in the second half of 2029. The VLCC was purchased for $124 million, while the two MR2 tankers were acquired for a combined price of $91.2 million.

The acquisition consists of two separate transactions. In September 2026, Navios reached an agreement with an unaffiliated third party to acquire two MR2 product tankers at a price of $45.6 million per vessel; in October, it signed an agreement to purchase one VLCC for $124 million. All three vessel transactions remain subject to completion of customary documentation procedures.

The additional VLCC brings Navios's newbuilding program for this vessel type to 8 ships, with cumulative investment reaching $967.5 million. The company had previously disclosed arrangements for 7 other VLCCs, including 4 vessels totaling $482 million and 3 vessels contracted between June and July 2026 totaling $361.5 million. The newly added VLCC increases the total procurement value of this series by a further $124 million.

The two additional MR2 tankers bring the company's newbuilding orderbook for this vessel type to 5 ships. According to Navios's third-quarter earnings announcement, as of early November 2026, the company's newbuilding tanker orderbook totaled 21 vessels, specifically comprising 8 VLCCs, 8 Aframax/LR2 tankers, and 5 MR2 product tankers. Of these, 3 were introduced through bareboat charter arrangements, while the remaining vessels are progressing under the procurement arrangements disclosed by the company, with the overall delivery schedule extending through 2029.
