China Unveils Shenzhou-24 Crewed Mission Patch

Set against the backdrop of Earth, the patch depicts the Shenzhou crewed spacecraft docking with China's space station, and marks the mission year and designation with "2026" and "SZ-24". Shenzhou-24 is one of China's crewed spaceflight missions for 2026. According to the mission schedule previously announced by the China Manned Space Agency, the spacecraft is planned to lift off from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center with a crew of three astronauts, and after entering orbit, dock with the forward port of the Tianhe core module of the space station.

The unveiled patch adopts a two-tone semicircular composition, with a blue background on the upper half and a red background on the lower half, and incorporates the shape of an ancient Chinese dragon-patterned jade huang ornament at the bottom. At the center of the design is the docking of the crewed spacecraft with the space station, flanked by scattered stars. "2026" and "SZ-24" mark the mission year and mission designation, respectively. The overall design combines the characteristics of crewed spaceflight missions with elements of traditional Chinese culture.

The Shenzhou-24 mission patch is an outcome of the 2026 crewed spaceflight mission patch solicitation organized by the China Manned Space Agency. The campaign solicited patch design proposals from the public for four missions: Tianzhou-10, Shenzhou-23, Shenzhou-24 and Mengzhou-1. After an initial review, up to 10 shortlisted works were selected for each mission, and public opinions were then collected through a 7-day online vote. A review panel composed of experts in fields such as spaceflight, literature and arts and crafts design ultimately determined the official designs.
