en.Wedoany.com Reported - On November 5, U.S. renewable energy developer Scout Clean Energy announced that the Nimbus onshore wind farm in Carroll County, Arkansas, has officially entered commercial operation. With a total installed capacity of 183 MW and 30 wind turbines, the project completed commercial operation after approximately two years of construction, making it the largest wind farm in Arkansas to date. The electricity generated by the project is covered by a power purchase agreement with Microsoft, and its expected annual generation can meet the electricity needs of more than 40,000 households.

The Nimbus wind farm is located near Green Forest in northwestern Arkansas, with 30 turbines arranged along local ridgelines. During project development, Scout collaborated with more than 50 landowners and conducted geological surveys and site analyses to determine turbine placement. Construction began in late 2024, with U.S. engineering contractor MasTec serving as general contractor responsible for implementing the wind farm construction.

Scout has signed a power purchase agreement with Microsoft for the Nimbus project, and Scout will handle day-to-day operations once the project is commissioned. The company has stationed on-site operations personnel at the wind farm and uses its round-the-clock remote operations center in Boulder, Colorado, to continuously monitor the operating status and generation performance of the wind equipment.

During construction, the Nimbus project employed more than 280 workers, and in the commercial operation phase it will create at least 5 permanent full-time positions. According to estimates published by Scout, the project is expected to contribute approximately $31 million in property tax revenue to Carroll County over its operational life.
