en.Wedoany.com Reported - On November 5, Nouryon, an international specialty chemicals company, announced its production arrangements for modified methylaluminoxane (MMAO) at its Jiaxing production base in Zhejiang, China, with production planned to commence in the first half of 2028 to supply catalyst activators to polyolefin elastomer (POE) and alpha-olefin producers in China and overseas. The company had previously proposed in October 2025 to start MMAO production in China in 2027; this announcement adjusts the planned production start date to the first half of 2028.

Nouryon plans to use its existing Jiaxing production base to increase production capacity for MMAO products. The product is an aluminum-based catalyst activator used in the production of polyolefin elastomers and alpha-olefins. The new production arrangement targets downstream industrial chains including photovoltaic module encapsulation materials and automotive lightweight components, with products to be supplied to polymer manufacturers in China and other markets.

The company currently manufactures MMAO at one production facility in the United States. The Jiaxing production arrangement expands its MMAO supply footprint to China. Nouryon stated that the product features easy solubility in production solvents and good storage stability, and can be used for catalyst activation in industrial-scale polymer production processes.

The MMAO business belongs to the Polymer Specialties business unit of Nouryon's Performance Materials segment. This business unit provides specialty chemicals and production support solutions to polymer manufacturers. The Jiaxing site has previously completed an organometallic expansion project, doubling its triethylaluminum production capacity; this MMAO production plan is a subsequent product layout arrangement for the site.
