en.Wedoany.com Reported - On November 6, Ignitis Renewables, the renewable energy developer under Lithuanian energy group Ignitis, completed the commercial commissioning of the Tume solar power plant in Latvia. The project is located in Tukums Municipality, with an installed capacity of 173.6 MW, approximately 174 MW when rounded to the nearest whole number, and a total investment of up to EUR 106 million. The plant covers an area of 302 hectares and is equipped with more than 282,000 photovoltaic modules, making it one of the larger solar power projects in the Baltic region. Its expected annual power generation can meet the electricity demand of approximately 85,000 households.

The Tume solar power plant adopts solar tracking mounting technology, making it the first photovoltaic project of Ignitis Renewables to be equipped with this technology. The tracking system can adjust the angle of the modules according to the sun's position to improve the efficiency of solar resource utilization during the day. After the project is completed, operation and maintenance will primarily be undertaken by Ignitis Renewables' own technical team, making it the company's first renewable energy project with an in-house team as the main maintenance force.

Ignitis Renewables is constructing a battery energy storage system with a power rating of 107.2 MW and a storage capacity of 214.5 MWh at the Tume plant. The energy storage project is currently under construction and is planned to operate in integration with the existing solar power plant. Once completed, it will be used to regulate the power output of the solar plant and enhance the grid integration flexibility of renewable energy.

Tume is the third solar power plant that Ignitis Renewables has put into commercial operation in Latvia. With the commissioning of this project, Ignitis Group's installed green energy capacity has increased from approximately 2.1 GW to 2.3 GW. The group also disclosed that this commissioning will not change its 2026 adjusted EBITDA and investment guidance.
