Wedoany.com Report-Jul. 28, Inyanga Marine Energy Group has taken over the operational management of Tor Boreas, a newly built hybrid utility vessel, in collaboration with Tor Group. The vessel, designed for the offshore wind sector, supports various operations, including geotechnical seabed surveys, ROV tasks, subsea inspections, and diving activities. It is currently stationed in Penzance, UK, and available for immediate charter.
Tor Boreas, designed by Macduff Ship Design and constructed by Tor Marine in Türkiye, measures 26.95 meters in length, 11 meters in breadth, with a 4.35-meter depth and a maximum draught of 3.5 meters. It features an offshore crane, a 5-tonne hydraulic A-frame, and towing capabilities with a 25-tonne electric aft winch and a 17-tonne bollard pull. The vessel’s diesel-electric powertrain and IMO Tier III exhaust system ensure efficient fuel use and reduced emissions compared to traditional diesel vessels.
“This state-of-the-art vessel has been designed to meet all the offshore operational requirements of clients and exceed their expectations,” said Kemal Torlak, CEO of Tor Group. “Inyanga will add significant value by supplying a highly experienced crew and providing services such as surveying, ROV, and offshore operational management.”
The vessel incorporates advanced features, including electric propulsion integrated with a dynamic positioning system for precise station-keeping during subsea tasks. A gyro-stabilized anti-roll system enhances stability, enabling safer operations in challenging conditions. Additionally, a four-point mooring system supports operations like diving, where dynamic positioning is less suitable. Tor Boreas offers high-quality accommodation for up to 12 client personnel, supporting extended offshore missions.
“Tor Boreas sets a new gold standard for utility work vessels in this sector,” said Richard Parkinson, CEO of Inyanga Marine Energy Group. “The vessel abounds in highly innovative features, making it safer and able to operate in more marginal conditions.”
