The browser offers context-aware tools: highlighting text in emails, calendar invites, or documents brings up suggestions and relevant information with a single click. Among its unique features, Agent Mode stands out. Available in preview to Plus, Pro, and Business subscribers, Agent Mode allows ChatGPT to perform tasks on behalf of users, potentially handling complete workflows such as researching or planning trips.
ChatGPT Atlas includes standard browser functions, such as tabs, autocomplete, a search bar, and bookmarks. Users can also set browsing preferences and customize colors, ensuring a familiar yet enhanced web experience.
The browser is now available for download. Mac users need macOS 14 or later and an Apple Silicon device, M1 or newer. This launch marks OpenAI’s move to integrate AI more directly into web browsing, offering productivity tools and intelligent assistance alongside standard browsing features.
By combining AI-driven suggestions, context-sensitive tools, and task automation, ChatGPT Atlas aims to streamline web interactions, enabling users to complete research, plan activities, and process information more efficiently. The platform emphasizes user control and privacy, ensuring personal browsing data is protected while providing AI support.
With the ChatGPT sidebar and Agent Mode, users can interact with AI in real time within the browser, making it possible to execute complex tasks with minimal manual input. This integration positions ChatGPT Atlas as a productivity-oriented browser that blends conventional web functionality with AI-driven enhancements.
