en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 16, Plasser & Theurer held the opening ceremony for its new final assembly and commissioning plant in Linz, Austria. The plant, representing an investment of more than €60 million and taking two years to complete, covers an area of approximately 12,000 square meters. It consolidates the final assembly and complete machine commissioning of track construction and maintenance machinery under one roof, with operations commencing in phases.

The new plant features 15 final assembly bays, each 30 meters long and 8.5 meters wide, where tasks such as cable and hose routing, engine and fuel tank installation, and cab assembly are carried out. Machines that have completed final assembly then move to the in-house commissioning area, where electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems are activated. The commissioning area is equipped with three tracks each 91 meters long and one track 56 meters long, enabling all commissioning procedures to be completed within the same facility.

The previously dispersed final assembly and commissioning facilities have been merged at the new plant and are now located close to the upstream mechanical assembly processes. The new plant is particularly dedicated to the final assembly and commissioning of the E³ series machines featuring hybrid drive technology.

The production hall, built by contractor Swietelsky, is approximately 21 meters high and features a steel column and truss beam structure, with a reinforced concrete base and polyurethane sandwich panel exterior walls. Technical rooms and a fire sprinkler water tank are located in the basement, while storage, office, and employee amenity spaces are situated on the upper level.

Plasser & Theurer's previously announced construction plan set full operation for early 2027. The current opening announcement specifies that the plant will be commissioned in phases, with approximately 180 employees expected to be working at the new facility by the end of 2026, including 80 newly created positions.
