China's Weichai Power and LGMG Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreement

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 8, China's Weichai Power and LGMG signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement, under which the two parties will deepen cooperation in areas including the matching of traditional and new energy powertrains, new product development, joint construction of quality systems, and sharing of global service networks. On the day of the signing, Wang Zhijian, Party Secretary and Chairman of Shandong Heavy Industry Group, and Yu Mengsheng, Chairman of LGMG, held a discussion. Yu Mengsheng, Chairman of LGMG, and Wang Decheng, General Manager of Weichai Power, jointly witnessed the signing.

Weichai Power and LGMG had already established a cooperative relationship, and this signing further expands the scope of cooperation to the collaborative development of powertrain systems and complete construction machinery. According to the agreement, traditional and new energy powertrains will both be included in the matching cooperation, and the two parties will also carry out technical collaboration in the new product R&D process and establish a shared cooperation mechanism in the areas of product quality management and overseas after-sales service.

Weichai Power has developed a powertrain product system covering equipment such as mining machinery, loaders, and excavators. The company's 2025 annual report shows that its 16M33 dual-fuel engine and 12M55 natural gas engine have been introduced into the mining truck sector, and the 12M25 engine is used in large-tonnage mining equipment; new energy products include range extenders and dedicated battery packs for 90–180-ton mining trucks, and it has also developed electric drive control products for matching construction machinery.

LGMG mainly engages in mining machinery, aerial work machinery, and material handling machinery, and has manufacturing bases in Jinan, Zhangqiu, and Mexico. The agreement signed by the two parties this time is a strategic cooperation framework agreement, and the public documents have not yet listed specific matching models, procurement quantities, contract amounts, or product delivery times.
