en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 7, Komatsu presented its construction machinery parts demand forecasting system at the Snowflake World Tour 2026 event held in São Paulo, Brazil. The system was put into operation at Komatsu Brasil International (KBI) in May 2026, using operational data from more than 14,000 construction machines in service in Brazil to forecast parts demand for the next 24 months. The system has now generated approximately 44 million forecast records, covering 49,000 parts codes and 45 equipment models.

The system, named CBC (Calculadora Baseada em Consumo), correlates equipment usage data collected by Komatsu's Komtrax remote equipment monitoring system with parts technical specifications, maintenance intervals, and replacement parameters for analysis. The system's database is updated daily, calculating the expected demand timing for different components based on actual equipment operating conditions and generating demand forecasts covering the next two years.

CBC uses the Snowflake cloud data platform to process equipment operation and parts information, and applies forecast results to inventory management, after-sales repair, spare parts procurement, and sales planning. Komatsu can arrange stock based on different equipment models and parts replacement cycles, and adjust inventory allocation for parts with long procurement lead times, high value, or slow turnover rates.

Dealers can use regional forecast results to identify potential customer repair needs and arrange parts supply and service communication before equipment enters scheduled maintenance cycles. The system has already begun to be applied to sales opportunity identification, with relevant analysis results also provided to inventory planning and after-sales service teams.

Komatsu plans to further correlate forecast results with existing inventory and outstanding orders, and is considering incorporating equipment fault code data. Future development directions include identifying parts demand outside regular maintenance cycles and establishing corresponding spare parts reserve arrangements for sudden on-site equipment failures.

Komatsu IT manager Johnny Nakamura and data architecture coordinator Luiz Feltrim participated in this technical presentation.
