Wedoany.com Report-Oct. 30, SGP Container Terminals, a subsidiary of Saudi Global Ports Group (“SGP”), has surpassed 15 million TEUs in cumulative container throughput at King Abdulaziz Port Dammam (“KAPD”) since starting operations in 2015. This milestone reflects collaboration with the Saudi Ports Authority (“Mawani”), Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, global shipping lines, and long-term partners.

As the largest container terminal on Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Coast, SGP has been central to connecting the Kingdom’s industries with international markets. Supported by PSA International’s global container terminal expertise, the terminal has seen steady growth, reaching a record 3.2 million TEUs in 2024.

The achievement follows SGP’s recent award and integration of Multipurpose Terminals along the Eastern Coast in July 2025. These developments highlight SGP’s commitment to transforming Saudi Arabia’s ports and logistics ecosystem through investments in technology, operational excellence, and workforce development.

Daniel Phay, CEO of SGP Container Terminals, said: “Surpassing 15 million TEUs is a proud achievement for our people and partners, reflecting years of unwavering commitment and dedication as we align with purpose to deliver reliable and efficient service for our customers. Looking ahead, we will act with perseverance, remaining focused and steadfast on advancing our terminals’ capacity and enhancing operational resilience alongside safety, digital and sustainability initiatives. Together, we will uplift King Abdulaziz Port Dammam as a key port node to unlock more opportunities for customers, communities, and partners in support of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 ports and logistics ambitions.”

Rob Harrison, CEO of Saudi Global Ports Group, added: “This moment represents more than a measure of throughput. It reflects how far we have progressed in unlocking growth for the Kingdom through sustained investment, innovation, and the development of local talent. Saudi Global Ports stands as the Gateway to Growth, committed to building an integrated, future-ready port ecosystem which delivers long-term value for Saudi Arabia and beyond.”

Since 2015, SGP Container Terminals has grown steadily by leveraging digitalization, operational optimization, and strong partnerships to handle increasing container volumes. The 15 million TEU milestone underscores the terminal’s role as a strategic hub for trade flows in the region.

Looking forward, SGP plans to expand terminal capacity, enhance operational resilience, and continue deploying advanced technology solutions to support safer, faster, and more sustainable port operations. These efforts align with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals to strengthen the national logistics sector, boost trade, and increase economic competitiveness.

The milestone highlights SGP Container Terminals’ pivotal role in the Kingdom’s port and logistics infrastructure, serving as a key gateway for domestic and international trade while driving innovation, sustainability, and workforce development in the sector.
