Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 30, McDermott has successfully completed the offshore transportation and installation phase for the F22, F27, and Selasih (FaS) natural gas field development operated by Sarawak Shell, a subsidiary of Shell, off the coast of Sarawak in East Malaysia.

The scope of work included installing two rigid pipeline segments, one flexible flowline, pre-commissioning of all infield pipelines, and the structural installation of three jackets and their respective topsides. McDermott's DLV 2000 heavy-lift and pipelay vessel carried out the offshore operations.

Mahesh Swaminathan, McDermott's Senior Vice President, Subsea and Floating Facilities, commented: "This project demonstrates the strength of our long-standing relationship with Shell and our ability to deliver complex projects safely and efficiently. It also highlights the depth of talent in our Kuala Lumpur office, which continues to play a leading role in delivering complex offshore projects for Malaysia and beyond."

The campaign achieved more than one million safe work hours, reflecting effective collaboration between McDermott, Shell, and project partners.

Fabrication of the platforms was performed by OceanMight, a subsidiary of KKB Engineering, with steel cutting beginning in April 2023 at its yard in Kuching, Sarawak. The three jackets and topsides, totaling over 5,700 metric tons, were loaded out and sailed away in August 2024.

The FaS project falls under the Malaysia LNG (MLNG) production-sharing contract and is operated by Sarawak Shell (40 percent interest), alongside Petronas Carigali (40 percent) and Petroleum Sarawak Exploration & Production (20 percent).

The development enhances gas supply to the Malaysia LNG complex in Bintulu and supports continued production from mature fields in the region. McDermott's timely execution of the subsea infrastructure scope contributes to the overall schedule for bringing the new fields on stream.

The successful completion further strengthens McDermott's track record in executing integrated transportation and installation campaigns across Asia, leveraging its specialized vessels and regional engineering capabilities based in Kuala Lumpur.
