Wedoany.com Report-Dec.19, Vestas has secured an 828MW turbine supply order from Brazilian renewable energy developer Casa dos Ventos for the Dom Inocêncio wind complex.
The project is set to commence construction in 2026.
Located in the south-central region of Piauí state, an area noted for its excellent wind conditions, the project will feature 184 V150-4.5MW turbines. This order extends an eight-year partnership between Vestas and Casa dos Ventos.
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026, with commissioning planned for 2028.
The contract includes turbine delivery, construction supervision, and a 25-year operation and maintenance agreement under an active output management 5000 service framework.
The Dom Inocêncio development represents a major advancement in Brazil's wind energy sector.
Casa dos Ventos executive director Lucas Araripe said: "Through our partnership with Vestas, we are bringing solutions that deliver the reliability and performance required for a project of this magnitude.
"This new agreement is yet another demonstration of our commitment to supporting the expansion of Brazil's renewable energy matrix. In addition to driving the country's energy transition, our investment will also significantly boost the socioeconomic development of the region."
With an investment surpassing 5 billion reais ($918.89 million), the complex will rank among Brazil's largest wind facilities. Once operational, it will generate sufficient clean electricity to power approximately two million households.
The initiative contributes to enhancing national energy security, increasing the proportion of renewable sources in the energy mix, and fostering regional growth in Piauí.
Throughout construction and operation, the project is expected to create over 8,500 direct and indirect jobs, strengthen local supply networks, and provide substantial community benefits.
Vestas Latin America president Eduardo Ricotta said: "Receiving Casa dos Ventos' trust once again for a project of this magnitude is a great source of pride for us. Casa dos Ventos is a key player in expanding renewable generation in Brazil.
"It is an honour to support a partner that shares the same ambition: to develop projects that drive the energy transition, expand access to clean energy, and foster socioeconomic growth in the regions where they operate."
The collaboration underscores continued progress in deploying large-scale wind energy solutions to meet growing demand for sustainable power in Brazil.
