Wedoany.com Report-Dec.26, On December 22, a China-Europe freight train fully loaded with 55 forty-foot containers departed from the Erenhot Railway Port, marking a milestone since the first train passed through in 2013. The cumulative freight volume of China-Europe trains entering and exiting via the Erenhot Railway Port has now exceeded 25 million tons, with the total number of trains operated surpassing 21,000.
As a flagship project in the high-quality co-construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, the China-Europe Railway Express has become a widely recognized international logistics brand among participating countries, thanks to its advantages of safety, speed, environmental friendliness, and reliable schedules. As the sole railway port for the central corridor of the China-Europe Railway Express, the Erenhot Railway Port has, for the first time this year, handled over 3,500 trains and more than 5 million tons of freight within a single year. The number of operating routes has gradually increased from the initial 2 to 74, connecting over 70 hub stations in more than 10 countries, including Germany and Poland. China serves as the origin for the majority of these trains, radiating from numerous starting cities.
With the continuous growth in cross-border transport demand, the Erenhot Railway Port has seen sustained growth in the directions, frequency, and types of goods carried by the China-Europe Railway Express. The port has handled over 3,000 trains annually for three consecutive years. The structure of export goods has been continuously optimized, shifting from an initial focus on metals, chemicals, clothing, and footwear to now being dominated by high-value-added products such as new energy vehicles, electronic products, and household appliances. The proportion of high-value-added goods, represented by domestically produced automobiles and mechanical equipment, has been increasing year by year, making the route an important channel for "Made in China" products to reach the world.
Aiming for the stable and efficient operation of the China-Europe Railway Express, the Erenhot Railway Port coordinates cargo sources and transport capacity, deepens the "two-station integration" organizational model with Mongolia's Zamyn-Üüd Station, and facilitates the mutual sharing of information on train flow structure and station inventory between border stations. It coordinates solutions for issues related to train reception and dispatch, loading and unloading operations, and train flow organization, promoting a "point-based" handover system to ensure broad facilitation, precise operations, and balanced incremental growth. This enables the swift import and export of goods. The port has also optimized the organizational model for receiving and dispatching China-Europe trains, establishing an integrated coordination mechanism involving train operation, freight handling, and loading/unloading, making each operational step more orderly, cohesive, and efficient.
As of December 22, the Erenhot Railway Port has received and dispatched 3,890 China-Europe trains this year, transporting 443,100 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) of goods, totaling 5.1167 million tons. These figures represent year-on-year increases of 17.6%, 16.8%, and 23.3%, respectively.
