Wedoany.com Report-Dec.31, According to reports, SoftBank Group has completed its total $40 billion investment commitment in OpenAI. Sources indicate that SoftBank paid the final installment of approximately $22 billion to $22.5 billion to the AI startup last week.

Previously, SoftBank Group had contributed $10 billion through a co-investment arrangement and directly invested $8 billion in the ChatGPT developer. With this, SoftBank's overall investment plan for OpenAI has been fully executed.

In February of this year, media reported that SoftBank was finalizing a $40 billion investment plan in the startup led by Sam Altman, at a pre-money valuation of around $260 billion. At the time, informed sources stated that the related funds would be disbursed in batches over a period of 12 to 24 months.

Furthermore, a portion of the funds will be used to support OpenAI's deployment in artificial intelligence infrastructure, including its joint "Stargate" project with Oracle (ORCL.US) and SoftBank. This project is seen as a crucial infrastructure investment for OpenAI to expand its computing power and data center capabilities, supporting the training and deployment of large models.
