A joint venture formed by Lane (the U.S. subsidiary of the Webuild Group) and Superior Construction has been awarded a contract totaling $643 million to construct the Westshore Interchange Project in Tampa Bay, Florida, USA.
This project is the largest infrastructure construction initiative being advanced by the Florida Department of Transportation in the region. It involves the modernization of major roadways including I-275, SR 60, and Veterans Expressway, aiming to enhance road safety and traffic capacity to meet the needs of regional economic growth.
Previously, the joint venture signed a $10 million design services contract in 2023, laying the groundwork for the execution of this construction agreement. The project is being implemented in phases. Through in-depth collaboration with the Florida Department of Transportation, the final design focuses on improving infrastructure efficiency and addressing community needs.
The main construction components of the Westshore Interchange Project include: building new elevated ramps providing access to Tampa International Airport, widening lanes on State Road 60, and improving bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure. Construction is now underway on what is one of Florida's busiest transportation corridors.
