Wedoany.com Report-Nov 25, Exxon Mobil has advised Suriname’s state oil and gas company Staatsolie that it is exiting offshore Block 52, despite the Slonea gas discovery made in 2020.
Petronas Suriname has agreed to take on Exxon Mobil’s fully 50% interest, giving it outright ownership of the block.
Earlier this year, the partners drilled the Sloane-2 appraisal well, and Petronas also signed a letter of agreement with the contractor in March.
Staatsolie said it expected Petronas to continue activities as planned.
