Wedoany.com Report on Feb 12th, Mibau-Stema Nederland is investing in a second terminal at the Port of Amsterdam to consolidate its position in the Dutch aggregates market. The company has developed the site in cooperation with the Port of Amsterdam to enhance the efficiency of its aggregate supply chain.
The new terminal is located in the Afrikahaven, covering an area of approximately 50,000 square meters, and is expected to be operational by the end of Q2 or early Q3 2026. The terminal facilities include a newly constructed berth with a water depth of 13.5 meters, allowing unrestricted access for Mibau-Stema's latest self-unloading vessels.
The company will use this new terminal to support increased production from its Norwegian quarries. Starting from mid-2026, the Dutch market will receive an additional 2 million tons of aggregate supply, helping to meet local construction demands.
This expansion is part of Mibau-Stema's long-term growth strategy. The company is preparing for a reduction in domestic aggregate supply following the completion of the Grensmaas project and a decline in supply from North Rhine-Westphalia.
Mibau-Stema is also promoting its Granobase product concept to strengthen its role as a knowledge partner for government agencies and engineering companies in the Dutch civil engineering sector.
Frank Holzapfel, Managing Director of Mibau-Stema Nederland, stated: "The new terminal will ensure a long-term supply of aggregates and support more sustainable construction."
Koen Overtoom, CEO of the Port of Amsterdam, noted: "This project confirms Mibau-Stema's long-term commitment to the port and reinforces Amsterdam's role as an import hub for aggregates, supported by sea, inland waterway, road, and rail transport."
