Power

Covers six types of power generation: thermal power, hydropower, wind power, photovoltaic (solar power), gas power, and nuclear power.

As a large-scale energy and power enterprise that has been listed among the Fortune Global 500 for 16 consecutive years, China Datang has always pursued the "dual carbon" goals, adheres to the corporate mission of "providing green energy and lighting a better life," and is committed to becoming a leading enterprise in building a Beautiful China. China Datang prioritizes the development of new energy and clean energy, accelerates the green transformation of the energy sector, and actively serves as the "main force" in carbon emission reduction. It fully ensures safe and reliable energy supply, firmly holds the initiative in energy security, builds a solid bottom line for energy supply in the new development pattern, and contributes to the great journey of Chinese modernization. As of the end of June 2024, its total installed power capacity reached 180 million kW, with clean energy accounting for over 47%. Over the past decade, coal power has achieved significant reductions in emissions and continuous improvements in efficiency and output, with carbon dioxide emission intensity reduced by more than 90%.

Thermal Power

Guided by the goals of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, and based on China Datang's coal-dominant resource endowment, the company firmly advances the transformation of traditional energy. It coordinates efforts to improve the efficiency and quality of coal power, prioritizing large-capacity, high-parameter, low-consumption, and low-emission energy-saving and environmentally friendly units, as well as highly efficient combined heat and power (CHP) units. It systematically eliminates outdated capacity and promotes the "three transformations in one"of coal power units, advancing clean, efficient, energy-saving, environmentally friendly, and flexible development. Representative advanced coal power projects include Inner Mongolia Tuoketuo Power Plant, Shandong Dongying Power Plant, Guangdong Chaozhou Power Plant, and Xinyu Phase II. The Datang Shandong Guocheng 630°C ultra-supercritical secondary reheat national demonstration project is China's highest-pressure, highest-temperature, highest-efficiency, and lowest-coal-consumption 1-million-kW unit.

Hydropower

Since its establishment, China Datang has regarded hydropower as an important pillar for sustainable development and has actively expanded its hydropower business. It has accelerated the construction of large-scale hydropower projects, achieving significant growth in installed capacity. It has built a number of large hydropower projects with comprehensive benefits including power generation, flood control, navigation, and water environment improvement, such as Longtan, Tingzikou, Yingxi, Changheba, and Shibazi. The under-construction Zhala Hydropower Project in Tibet features technical challenges such as "high water head, deep vertical shafts, and multiple fault zones," and serves as the demonstration project for China's first "large-capacity impulse" turbine generator unit. It is of great significance for improving China's hydropower development capability and industrial equipment manufacturing level. At present, China Datang's operating, under-construction, and reserve hydropower projects are distributed across 16 provinces in China, including Guangxi, Yunnan, Tibet, Sichuan, Chongqing, and Shaanxi, as well as overseas countries such as Myanmar, Cambodia, and Laos.

Wind Power

On August 12, 2005, China Datang's first wind turbine was installed in Saihanba, Chifeng, Inner Mongolia, marking the breakthrough of "zero" in wind power development. In subsequent development, China Datang has actively implemented the concept that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets," and has continuously expanded wind power development. It built China's first million-kW wind power base and the first "grid-friendly" wind farm—Datang Chifeng Saihanba Wind Farm—pioneering centralized and large-scale development of new energy in China. It has also built the country's largest wind-solar-storage integrated project in northern China—Datang Jilin Xiangyang Project; China's largest high-altitude mountainous wind power base—Datang Yunnan Jinping West Wind Farm; and the world's highest-altitude wind power project—Datang Bomei 100 MW Wind Project, which saves more than 223 million kWh of clean electricity annually, equivalent to over 70,000 tons of standard coal. China Datang's first offshore wind project—Jiangsu Binhai Offshore Wind Farm—has also been successfully commissioned.

Photovoltaic

China Datang deeply practices the "dual carbon" goals, continuously strengthens efforts in green and low-carbon energy transformation, adheres to both centralized and distributed development with multiple breakthroughs, and is committed to building million-kilowatt-level new energy base clusters and distributed intensive development zones in central, eastern, and southern regions, forming an overall "one system" coordinated pattern to promote green and low-carbon transformation. In the development of the photovoltaic industry, China Datang has built the country's first coastal tidal flat photovoltaic project—Changdatu Photovoltaic Power Station—on long-abandoned coastal tidal flats; taking heavy metal pollution areas, rocky desertification areas, and mining subsidence areas as carriers, it adopts the model of "photovoltaic development + ecological restoration + energy storage" to construct the Datang Huayin Loudi 1 million kW photovoltaic project. At the same time, it actively explores new power generation models such as agriculture-photovoltaic complementarity, fishery-photovoltaic complementarity, and desert/Gobi/wasteland applications, promoting intensive land use and ecological environmental governance.

Gas Turbine

Gas-fired power generation and gas turbine combined heat and power using natural gas have significant value in energy conservation and emission reduction compared with coal-fired units. China Datang adheres to accurately grasping new trends in energy and power development and industrial transformation and upgrading, focuses on optimizing energy structure, increases the utilization of clean natural gas, actively leverages the advantages of high efficiency, flexible start-stop, and high reliability of gas turbines, continuously improves clean power generation and clean heating capacity, and continuously promotes green innovation and development in the energy and power sector.

Nuclear Power

At its establishment, China Datang proposed the development concept of promoting nuclear power construction, actively carried out preliminary work such as nuclear equity participation, site development, and reserve, and multiple sites entered China's national medium- and long-term nuclear power development plan, which not only reserved resources for the Group's subsequent nuclear development but also contributed to the rapid development of China's nuclear industry. In April 2013 and January 2014, Units 1 and 2 of Ningde Nuclear Power Plant, in which China Datang holds a significant equity stake, were completed and put into operation, achieving a "zero" breakthrough in the Group's operating nuclear power equity capacity. Since 2022, China Datang has focused on coastal site resource development and actively acquired high-quality equity capacity. Ningde Nuclear Power Phase II project and Zhuanghe Nuclear Power project have been approved.
