The FTU is a monitoring and protection device specifically developed for pole-mounted switches in 10kV distribution networks. It features fault detection, protection control, and communication functions (when equipped with a communication module). It is designed to be used with switches installed at the responsibility demarcation point of customer incoming lines on 10kV overhead distribution lines, as well as on main feeder lines requiring reliable segmentation.
When combined with a pole-mounted switch and voltage transformers, the FTU forms a complete system capable of automatically isolating single-phase-to-ground faults on the controlled branch and automatically isolating phase-to-phase short-circuit faults on the controlled branch.
