What is a Roots Blower:
A Roots blower is a twin-rotor positive displacement compression machine, with the axes of the two rotors parallel to each other. Each rotor is composed of an impeller and a shaft, with small clearances between the impellers, and between the impellers and the casing and end plates, to avoid contact. The impellers, together with the casing and end plates, enclose a closed base volume whose size remains unchanged during rotation. The two rotors are driven by a prime mover through a pair of synchronous gears, rotating in opposite directions at equal speeds, pushing the inhaled gas from the suction port to the discharge port without internal compression, thereby completing gas conveyance.
