What is a Roots blower:
A Roots blower is a twin-rotor positive displacement compression machine, with the axes of the two rotors parallel to each other. Each rotor is composed of an impeller and a shaft, with tiny clearances between the impellers, between the impellers and the casing, and between the impellers and the end plates, to avoid contact. The impellers, together with the casing and end plates, enclose a closed base volume whose size remains unchanged during rotation. The two rotors are driven by a prime mover through a pair of synchronous gears, rotating in opposite directions at equal speed, pushing the inhaled gas from the suction port to the discharge port without internal compression, thereby completing gas conveyance.
