What is a Roots Blower:
A Roots blower is a twin-rotor positive displacement compression machine, with the axes of the two rotors parallel to each other. Each rotor consists of an impeller and a shaft. There are minimal clearances between the impellers, between the impellers and the casing, and between the impellers and the end plates, to prevent contact. The impellers, together with the casing and end plates, enclose a sealed base volume whose size remains unchanged during rotation. The two rotors are driven by a prime mover through a pair of synchronous gears, rotating at equal speed in opposite directions, pushing the drawn-in gas from the inlet to the outlet without internal compression, thereby completing the gas conveying process.
