Where turning on its own guarantees process capability, the workpiece is finish hard turned. It is only grind-finished (after rough hard turning) where component quality demands. "HDS"-technology is the most cost-effective production process for the machining of super-precision hardened workpieces. Improved component and end product quality, as the workpiece is machined in a single setup, whereby the rough hard turning operation leaves a grind-finishing allowance of just 0.02 mm (relative to the diameter). Less time consuming wheel dressing, as the grinding wheel wear is much less where only a small amount of stock has to be removed. Compared to conventional grinding methods the minute grinding allowances required for the application of HDS-technology allow you to grind with a minimum of coolant and even dry, in which case there is no need for costly grinding sludge disposal measures. Greater integrity of the process capability and a better surface finish through grind-finishing rather than just hard turning. Compared to pure hard turning the grind-finishing operation leaves surfaces free of spiral tool marks. Back faces can easily be hard turned. Complicated contour segments that make dressing of the wheel difficult or impossible, can be easily and quickly turned. Short travels = minimal idle times = low unit production costs. Easy access to the machining area shortens setup times. Highest precision, excellent surface finishes and optimal integrity of the process capability. Symmetrical design and force distribution. Rigid, eminently stable maschine base in polymer granite MINERALIT®. Unhindered chip flow. Used as stand-alone machine or integrated into production lines. Easy to interlink with other VSCs and a variety of workpiece storage and handling systems
