The special feature of this location is that Magna Car Top Systems production area is fully integrated in General Motors Belgiums production facilities. Some 80 employees currently build up to 150 convertible roofs every day as part of the customer’s assembly sequence. The production and logistics area covers around 3,000 sq meters. The retractable hard top consists of the following components: kinematics, hydraulic drive, rear window, closures, rear shelf and trim. The painted parts are supplied to Magna Car Top Systems for assembling the roof. At various stations the employees perform a defined number of assembly steps. The roof system moves from station to station, finally undergoing dimensional and visual final inspection, including a function test. The completed roof system goes straight from the CTS assembly area to the relevant vehicle for installation.
