Wedoany.com Report on Mar 6th, The public bidding announcement for the survey and design of the Shuozhou to Huanghua Port section capacity expansion and upgrade project of China's Shuohuang Railway was officially released on March 5th. The project's tenderee is China Guoneng Shuohuang Railway Development Co., Ltd. The bidding scope covers preliminary design (including survey) and construction drawing design (including survey), with a service period of 1460 calendar days from the contract signing date.

The main construction content of this capacity expansion and upgrade project includes: transforming Longgong Station into a station capable of accommodating 20,000-ton trains; enhancing the throat capacity of stations such as Shenchi South, Huanghua South, and Huanghua Port; modifying the unloading system at Huanghua Port Station to align with the Huanghua Port Phase V project; constructing a new 9.1-kilometer grade-separated line for the Huangwan Railway; and simultaneously upgrading power supply, environmental protection, and rescue facilities along the line. The total estimated investment for the project is 4.725 billion yuan. Upon completion, the annual transport capacity of the Shuohuang Railway will reach 400 million tons.
The Shuohuang Railway stretches 598 kilometers from Shenchi South Station in Shanxi Province in the west to Huanghua Port in Hebei Province in the east. It is China's second National Class I double-track electrified heavy-haul railway after the Daqin Railway and serves as the second major corridor for "transporting coal from west to east." Construction on the railway began in 1997, and it became fully operational in 2001. In 2023, it achieved a record high annual freight volume of 368 million tons. As a key junction for the three heavy-haul railways—Shuohuang, Huangwan, and Huangda—Huanghua South Station will further enhance its train flow organization capacity through this upgrade, enabling efficient distribution of coal to Tianjin Port, Huanghua Port, and Longkou Port.
Guoneng Shuohuang Railway Development Co., Ltd. is jointly owned by China Shenhua Energy Company Limited, Daqin Railway Co., Ltd., and others, operating a total track length of 889 kilometers. In October 2024, the company initiated a small-radius curve modification project for the Shanxi section of the Shuohuang Railway, with a total investment of 1.764 billion yuan and a construction period of three years. The launch of this survey and design bidding for the comprehensive capacity expansion and upgrade marks a new stage in enhancing the efficiency of this major heavy-haul transport corridor.
