German Oil Refinery Supplies via Poland Unaffected by Leak

Wedoany.com Report-Dec 02,   Oil supplies to German refineries via Poland were unaffected by a leak reported Sunday in one of the two Druzhba pipeline links, Polish state pipeline operator PERN SA said in a website statement.

Emergency workers secured the area around the pipeline near Pniewy, western Poland, after learning of a possible leak at around 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, Martin Halasz, a spokesman for the firefighters, said by phone earlier today. 

The capacity of the second Druzhba line allows PERN to supply the needs of German clients in full, the company said late Sunday, adding that it’s currently investigating the reason behind the leak. 

The pipeline supplies the Leuna and Schwedt refineries in eastern Germany, which buy oil via Poland’s Baltic Sea port of Gdansk. Schwedt also buys from Kazakhstan. 

People living near the leak aren’t in danger, PERN said.
