The O3b mPOWER constellation provides connectivity services to global markets, covering various sectors including government, telecommunications, and cruise lines. SES plans to launch three more satellites in the second half of this year to complete the full constellation of 13 satellites. The company began offering commercial services from these satellites in April 2024.

SES CEO Adel Al-Saleh stated, "This added capacity enhances our current capabilities and clearly signals future developments. With 10 of the 13 satellites now launched, and three more planned for later this year, we are on track for the full deployment of O3b mPOWER and significant further capacity growth by 2027."

The two newly operational satellites incorporate a redesigned payload power module from Boeing, differing from the first six satellites launched. This adjustment was made due to issues with the power modules on the earlier satellites.

These two satellites were launched by SpaceX from Cape Canaveral on July 22nd. The expansion of the O3b mPOWER constellation is expected to enhance the reliability and coverage of global connectivity services.
