Wedoany.com Report on Mar 9th, China Eastern Airlines plans to resume flight services between Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Stockholm Arlanda Airport in June 2026. This route will operate three times weekly, scheduled for Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, using Airbus A330 aircraft. Initially launched in 2018 and later suspended, this resumption will reconnect China and Sweden, making China Eastern the only airline currently operating direct flights between Shanghai and Stockholm.

Stockholm Arlanda Airport welcomes this new route, stating it will facilitate travel for passengers heading to China and other parts of Asia. China Eastern's European network continues to expand, with plans to add Xi'an-Vienna flights this year alongside the resumption of the Stockholm route. The airline's overall flights to Europe have increased by 16%, with notable growth on routes to Barcelona, Copenhagen, and Geneva.

While Chinese carriers like China Eastern are increasing capacity to Europe, some European airlines are scaling back services to the Chinese market. Factors driving market changes include route competition and operational challenges, but Chinese carriers have seized opportunities by boosting flight frequencies. Compared to 2019, China Eastern's flight volume to Europe has grown by 92%, demonstrating its proactive expansion in the European market.
