Wedoany.com Report on Mar 16th, The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) of the UAE announced that the country's air transport system is gradually returning to regular operational status. Through carefully designed operational and regulatory plans, the UAE has ensured a smooth resumption of air traffic, guaranteeing passenger safety and the continuity of aviation services.

Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism and Chairman of the GCAA Board of Directors, stated: "The safety of passengers, pilots, crew members, and all aviation professionals remains the top priority in decisions regarding airspace and flight operations. Despite the special regional circumstances, the UAE has achieved balanced management of air traffic and ensured continuity of travel in compliance with the highest safety standards by operating a limited number of flights through approved contingency routes."

From March 1st to 12th, 2026, UAE airports received a cumulative total of over 1.4 million passengers. During the same period, UAE airspace recorded 7,839 air traffic movements. These indicators reflect the effective management capability of the aviation system in maintaining smooth passenger flow.

Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority, pointed out that UAE national airlines have restored a significant portion of their operations, with total operational activity reaching approximately 44.6% of pre-special circumstances levels. This demonstrates the progress airlines are making in gradually resuming normal flight operations.

The recovery of the aviation industry is attributed to continuous coordination with industry partners, neighboring countries, and relevant regional and international parties. The GCAA expressed gratitude for the cooperation of travelers and advised them to stay updated with the latest information from their airlines and verify their flight status before travel to streamline the process.
