Wedoany.com Report on Mar 16th, According to reports, the cold-rolled steel sheet plant of Tosyali Algérie, located in Béthioua, Oran Province, Algeria, is scheduled to officially commence production between August and September 2026. The plant has a designed annual capacity of 1.4 million tons, primarily producing galvanized steel sheets and coated steel sheets. Its products will supply industries such as automobile manufacturing, automotive parts, home appliances, construction, and shipbuilding.

This project is a key component in building Algeria's flat steel industry system. Previously, Tosyali's hot-rolled steel sheet complex commenced production in October 2024, with an annual capacity of 2.5 million tons, covering the entire process from ore beneficiation, direct reduction, steelmaking to hot rolling. Upon the completion of the cold-rolling project, it will form a complete industrial chain with the hot-rolling production line.

With the operation of the cold-rolling plant, the total number of employees at the Béthioua Steel Complex will increase from the current 2,200 to 2,700. The overall steel production capacity of the complex will also rise from the current 6 million tons to 8 million tons by 2026, and the number of major production units will increase from 17 to 22.

This capacity expansion signifies Tosyali's transition from traditional long product steel production to high-value-added flat steel, aiming to meet the demand for locally produced steel in Algeria's automotive, home appliance, and manufacturing sectors, and to reduce reliance on imports. Tosyali operates multiple steel projects in Algeria and Turkey, with businesses involved in green, low-carbon production and technological innovation.
