Wedoany.com Report, On March 11, 2026, asphalt paving for Section 1 of the Mbuyi-Mayi-Kuba road construction project, part of the National Road N1 under the China-Congo "package" infrastructure program, officially commenced, marking a critical phase in the project's progress. The road spans approximately 853 kilometers and is designed as a two-lane highway with asphalt concrete pavement structure or double surface treatment asphalt structure in different sections. Currently, asphalt paving is progressing simultaneously across six sections.

At the construction site, large machinery such as asphalt distributors, chip spreaders, double-drum steel wheel rollers, and rubber-tired rollers operated in an orderly manner. Construction personnel carried out processes like spreading and compaction in accordance with technical specifications. The newly laid asphalt surface stretched like a dark ribbon, winding through rolling hills and scattered villages, sketching out a transportation artery amidst tropical palm forests and green grasslands. Adhering to the principle of "quality first, safety foremost," the project management team ensures each segment of asphalt pavement withstands the test of time and traffic through meticulous technical briefings, full-process on-site supervision, and standardized operational control.

The commencement of asphalt paving represents a crucial leap forward in the project's timeline. This road, carrying the hopes of local residents, will inject vitality into regional logistics and the improvement of people's livelihoods. In the next step, all participating units of the China-Congo "package" program will steadily advance asphalt paving and other construction works to facilitate the early opening of this "road to prosperity."

National Road N1 is a vital transportation artery connecting Mbuyi-Mayi, the capital of Kasaï-Central province, to Kuba town in Lualaba province. The Mbuyi-Mayi-Kuba road rehabilitation project officially commenced in 2024. In July 2025, Chinese Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of the Congo Zhao Bin inspected the Mbuyi-Mayi-Kuba road project site, affirming the construction progress and the quality of the asphalt paving work. The entire project employs standardized asphalt paving techniques to ensure road durability and driving comfort.
