Wedoany.com Report on Mar 17th, Yangarra Resources has provided an update on advancing the development of the Belly River formation in the Chambers area of Alberta, Canada. Over the past two years, the company has continued to acquire land and conduct drilling operations in the area to expand its resource base. The Belly River producing zone overlays the company's existing Cardium production. This configuration allows Yangarra to leverage existing infrastructure and surface leases to effectively support the development of the new formation.
Based on data analysis from the current 10 producing wells, Yangarra has confirmed 40 net Tier 1 drilling locations within the Belly River formation. The company plans to further delineate this producing zone on its Chambers land base over the next six to twelve months, potentially adding approximately 60 net drilling locations to expand production scale. This week, two Belly River wells are scheduled for fracture stimulation, and the company also expects to commence drilling on two additional wells in the near term.
During the early development phase, Yangarra adjusted its drilling and completion practices to ensure the wellbore remained precisely within the target zone. Initial wells were completed using slickwater fracture stimulation, but starting with the seventh well, the company switched to a gel fracture stimulation design to optimize production results. The tenth well introduced a reconfigured downhole pump system, replacing the smaller pumps used earlier. After a two-week cleanup period, this well's production exceeded 500 barrels of oil equivalent per day, with a liquid content of approximately 68%. This pump upgrade technology was subsequently applied to the eighth and ninth wells, significantly boosting their production and further validating the development potential of the Belly River formation.
