en.Wedoany.com Report on Mar 21st, Cypriot manufacturer Cypet Technologies recently unveiled its 1000-liter PET Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) for the first time, claiming it to be the world's first of its kind. Michalis Sideris, the company's Head of Business Development, stated: "We are currently producing the first batch of IBC samples for customer testing and market introduction." He confirmed the customer is a large plastics processor based in India.

The test samples of this PET IBC are being produced in India using Cypet's ISBM equipment. The same customer is also developing a 1000-liter PET water tank, with both containers being manufactured on Cypet's K185 single-stage ISBM machine. This machine features a horizontal layout, similar to an injection molding machine, and uses a 1850-ton clamp for preform injection and bottle blowing. The design of the K185 machine makes the production of large containers possible, breaking through the volume limitations of traditional PET molding technology.

According to Cypet, this PET Intermediate Bulk Container weighs 8-9 kg, which is lighter than traditional HDPE containers weighing 12-15 kg, helping to reduce transportation costs and carbon emissions. PET material also offers better stress crack resistance, gas barrier properties, and transparency, which can better protect the contents and extend shelf life. The injection-molded neck design ensures a leak-proof seal and valve fitting, offering advantages in sealing performance compared to extrusion blow-molded HDPE containers. These characteristics give PET IBCs potential for applications in industries with high demands for packaging cleanliness and safety, such as food, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals.

Sideris added that the company is working closely with its Indian customer to gather testing feedback to optimize the product design. Cypet plans to promote the PET IBC to the global market after obtaining market validation, offering a new lightweight solution for liquid storage and transportation.
