en.Wedoany.com Reported - Danish logistics conglomerate Maersk recently announced a major restructuring of its Asia-Europe network from April 2026, redesigning several AE services routed via the Cape of Good Hope to improve schedule reliability and network flexibility. The adjustment will shift more capacity towards northern European gateway ports while reducing direct calls at Mediterranean and North African ports.

According to Maersk's announced plan, the port rotation order of several AE services will change. The AE1 service adds Antwerp, Belgium, and cancels Tanger Med TC1, Morocco, while retaining Yantian, China; Tanjung Pelepas, Malaysia; Rotterdam, Netherlands; Germany (Hamburg); London Gateway, UK; and Tanger Med TC3, Morocco. The AE3 service adds Yantian, China; Aarhus, Denmark; Gothenburg, Sweden; and Southampton, UK, while cancelling Ningbo, China and Algeciras, Spain. The AE5 service incorporates Ningbo, China and Algeciras, Spain, adjusts the rotation of Bremerhaven, Germany, and cancels Yantian, China; Aarhus, Denmark; and Gothenburg, Sweden. The AE11 service remains unchanged.

In the Mediterranean region, the AE12 service replaces East Port Said, Egypt and Colombo, Sri Lanka with Algeciras, Spain and Singapore. The AE15 service cancels Izmit and Istanbul, Turkey, adds Damietta, Egypt and Colombo, Sri Lanka, with cargo to the Turkish market being covered via the feeder network.

Maersk stated that this network restructuring focuses on high-volume gateway ports to enhance connectivity efficiency between Asia and Europe. When conditions permit in the future, the AE12 and AE15 services may return to the Red Sea and Suez Canal route. German liner company Hapag-Lloyd is also involved in the operation of this service network.
