en.Wedoany.com Reported - Schneider Electric has launched the Uniflair XCA series of air-cooled and free-cooling chillers, designed to meet the rapidly changing needs of AI-driven high-density liquid-cooled data centers.

The Uniflair XCAC (air-cooled) and Uniflair XCAF (free-cooling) series integrate oil-free centrifugal compressors with magnetic bearing technology and built-in variable frequency drives, forming a fully optimized cooling platform that delivers energy efficiency performance and operational stability under various thermal loads and environmental conditions.

Equipped with high-efficiency flooded evaporators, the series offers six models of oil-free centrifugal chillers with capacities ranging from 1200 kW to 2500 kW. The products use low Global Warming Potential (GWP) refrigerants, providing excellent thermal performance while significantly reducing environmental impact. Their wide operating range accommodates higher leaving water temperatures, making them particularly suitable for AI-optimized data centers and advanced liquid-cooled infrastructure where energy efficiency and sustainability are key.

As AI, GPU clusters, and liquid cooling architectures drive increased power density, cooling systems have become central to data center reliability and cost control. The Uniflair XCA addresses these challenges through an efficient integrated architecture. The oil-free magnetic bearing centrifugal compressor eliminates the lubrication system, reducing maintenance, contamination risks, and mechanical losses, delivering up to 25% efficiency improvement and ultra-low noise levels. The advanced heat exchange architecture combines flooded evaporator technology with V-shaped microchannel coils, providing thermal performance while reducing refrigerant charge, material usage, and environmental footprint. The optimized heat dissipation architecture, featuring a new V-shaped coil design and next-generation large-diameter EC fans, achieves higher heat exchange efficiency with increased airflow, reduces noise impact, and ensures stable operation even in high-temperature environments. In terms of enhanced free-cooling capability, with high water temperatures (up to 33°C leaving water) and improved coil geometry, the XCAF free-cooling model significantly improves annual energy efficiency. It can operate under extreme environmental conditions ranging from -20°C to +52°C, while in temperate climates, the system can achieve up to 60% energy savings compared to mechanical cooling alone, extending free-cooling availability and reducing reliance on mechanical cooling. High configurability through multiple electrical, hydraulic, noise control, and performance enhancement options allows the system to be tailored to specific operational needs. The efficient fast restart function enables the system to resume full operation within 3 minutes after a power outage, minimizing service interruptions. In terms of sustainable design, the Uniflair XCA fully complies with the EU F-Gas Regulation 2024/573 and comes standard with ultra-low GWP refrigerants.

In the digital domain, the XCA introduces next-generation firmware features that optimize performance in real time. These features include variable speed water pump algorithms supporting constant flow, constant temperature difference, or constant pressure head modes; advanced fan regulation enabling low-noise and ultra-low-noise modes based on temperature, load, or schedule; and energy metering with real-time water flow measurement for improved visibility. These capabilities enable predictive efficiency, reduce compressor cycling, and enhance overall system stability.

The first Uniflair XCA chillers will begin global shipments in June 2026.
