en.Wedoany.com Reported - Peru's National Environmental Certification Service for Sustainable Investments (SENACE) has approved the Detailed Environmental Impact Study (EIA-d) for the "ITC 220 kV Belaunde Terry – Tarapoto Norte Interconnection Line, Expansion and Related Substation" (BETA) project. The approval is based on Report No. 00075-2026-SENACE-PE/DEAR-UFET and was formally confirmed through Institutional Resolution No. 00076-2026-SENACE-PE/DEAR.

The approval of this environmental impact study marks a significant milestone for the project. In accordance with Ministerial Resolution No. 408-2025-MINEM/DM, the regions of San Martín and Loreto in Peru were declared to be in a state of severe electricity service shortage. The BETA project aims to strengthen the regional transmission infrastructure, enhancing the efficiency and reliability of electricity supply.

Peru's Ministry of Energy and Mines previously announced that the power systems of Tarapoto and Yurimaguas face severe shortages due to capacity constraints on the 138 kV Tingo María – Aucayacu – Tocache transmission corridor. As a key infrastructure solution to this issue, the BETA project plans to construct an approximately 87 km long 220 kV transmission line, along with a roughly 15.2 km 138 kV branch line, build the new Mayo substation, and carry out related expansion works.

With the environmental approval of this project, all three transmission concessions in "Group One" have now obtained environmental permit clearance. These concessions include: the 500 kV San José – Yarabamba Interconnection Line (SAYA), the 220 kV Miguel Grau (formerly Ex Piura Nueva) – Colán Interconnection Line (PICO), and the 220 kV Belaunde Terry – Tarapoto Norte Interconnection Line (BETA). These initiatives aim to strengthen Peru's national electricity system.

The approval of the detailed EIA confirms the environmental feasibility of project implementation, supporting its development in accordance with technical, environmental, and social standards, as well as current regulations and relevant environmental management criteria. ISA ENERGÍA stated that it will continue to promote responsibly developed energy infrastructure projects, focusing on sustainable operational management and harmonious coexistence with the environment and communities.
