en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Hong Kong Generative Artificial Intelligence Research and Development Center (HKGAI) announced on June 9 that, in coordination with the SAR government's policy to promote AI literacy among all citizens, the center, together with the Kwun Tong District Residents' Association and the Hong Kong Flag Guard Association, held the first "AI Community Demonstration Zone" launch and exchange event, with the first batch of 50 community AI ambassadors officially inaugurated.
This event aims to establish the Kwun Tong District as a demonstration zone for AI applications, with the goal of standardizing successful experiences and promoting them across all 18 districts of Hong Kong, driving the entire population to learn and apply AI. Through close collaboration with local community groups, AI technology will be genuinely introduced into communities to facilitate residents' daily lives.

At the event, HKGAI introduced AI tools specifically designed for Hong Kong citizens. "Gang Hua Tong" addresses daily needs of local residents, offering functions such as weather and recipe queries, and calorie calculation. It has partnered with local merchants like "Jiabao Supermarket" to integrate loyalty points, and can generate recipes and nutritional advice by scanning dishes, as well as provide school selection recommendations and mock interview functions for students. "Gang Hui Tong" and "Gang Wen Tong" are tools for document writing and meeting assistance, integrating real-time multilingual translation (Cantonese, Mandarin, English, and multiple other languages), automatic meeting minutes generation, and intelligent drafting and proofreading of official documents, aimed at enhancing the community service efficiency of district councilors and social workers.
To bring AI technology deep into the community, this project adopts a flexible "hands-on" teaching model. The HKGAI team first trains local volunteers to become "Community AI Ambassadors," who then teach residents how to use AI tools step by step. For individuals with disabilities or elderly people with limited mobility, the team and volunteers also provide one-on-one home-based teaching services.
Looking ahead, HKGAI stated that it will use this Kwun Tong District project as an important "pilot" to gradually expand the "AI Community Promotion Model." In the future, it will actively collaborate with various local community groups, social welfare organizations, and residents' associations across Hong Kong to ensure that innovative technology benefits all citizens and enhances overall AI literacy.
HKGAI was established in October 2023, funded by the SAR government's key innovation and technology project, the "InnoHK Innovation Hong Kong R&D Platform." In February 2025, HKGAI officially released Hong Kong's first large-scale AI model, HKGAI V1.
