en.Wedoany.com Reported - Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales has submitted a hybrid planning application for a development on a 54-acre former White Moss Quarry site on Crewe Road.

The project includes up to 400 homes, with the potential for a care home and a local centre featuring small-scale commercial and community uses.

The site is designated for residential development in the Cheshire East Local Plan.

Mark Calvert, Managing Director of Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, said White Moss is a key allocated site in the Cheshire East Local Plan, offering an opportunity to deliver much-needed new homes along with a range of community and commercial facilities in Alsager.

A public consultation was held earlier this year, and the proposals were refined after carefully considering the feedback received before the planning application was submitted. The aim is to create a balanced, sustainable development that benefits both existing and future residents.

The full permission application involves the demolition of existing buildings, site-wide engineering works, construction of new homes, and the creation of public open space areas.

The outline part of the project includes a care home and land for future commercial and community uses. The proposed homes range from one to four bedrooms, with the provision of affordable housing to be agreed with Cheshire East Council. Anwyl is working with Astle Planning & Design.

As part of the proposal, the former quarry will be fully redeveloped, with extensive engineering and landscaping works delivering significant environmental and visual improvements.

Calvert said the plan will achieve the long-term restoration of the site, creating a high-quality mixed-use development.

As a family-owned business, the company focuses on creating places where people want to live, including well-designed homes, open spaces, and facilities that foster a sense of community, such as new play areas, green spaces, and improvements to existing public rights of way.

The proposed scheme will also include two formal play areas, one being a fully equipped neighbourhood play area and the other a multi-use games area.

Anwyl has a local presence and has delivered projects including those in Crewe and Shavington. Current projects cover Congleton, Nantwich (part of Muller's Maylands Park masterplan), and Sandbach. If approved, Anwyl hopes the first homes could be occupied by the end of 2028.

White Moss Quarry has long been of interest to housebuilders, with Persimmon advancing plans for the site in the late 2010s. It is understood that Anwyl has agreed to acquire the site, subject to approval.
