en.Wedoany.com Reported - Austrian machinery manufacturer Wittmann has launched a fully automatic granular bag opening station, designed to automate the bag opening process and reduce labor and time costs in injection molding.

Wittmann states that when feeding injection molding machines with bagged plastic granules, the process is particularly cumbersome if multiple plastic types need to be supplied to several machines, and labor and time are often insufficient. Therefore, it recommends automating granular material handling as much as possible. The new bag opening station can automatically depalletize, open, empty, and dispose of material bags from pallets. The standard configuration includes two pallet positions and a linear robot, with a modular structure that can be precisely sized according to the processor's requirements and site conditions. During operation, the robot identifies the position of bags on the pallet, ensuring efficient and safe depalletizing even for partially opened pallets.
The robot picks up material bags one by one. After the current bag is automatically opened, the granules are filled into a prepared container according to the preset target quantity, and empty bags are placed separately for recycling. An optional shredder can be integrated into the bag opening station for on-site shredding of empty bags. The station is equipped with a complete R9 control system for intuitive operation and easy integration into existing IT infrastructure as well as systems containing other Wittmann components.
The company notes that the bag opening station will also be launched soon on the German market.
