en.Wedoany.com Reported - KBR will provide technology licensing and front-end engineering design (FEED) services for a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) plant jointly developed by Keppel's infrastructure division and Aster Chemicals & Energy Company (Aster) on Jurong Island, Singapore, based on KBR's PureSAF℠ technology.
The PureSAF technology was developed by Swedish Biofuels AB, and KBR is responsible for its commercial-scale engineering design and holds the global exclusive license for the technology.
Keppel and Aster announced their collaboration earlier this year to jointly assess the development of the facility. The proposed plant is expected to have a planned capacity of up to 100,000 tons of SAF per year, but final advancement is subject to investment decisions and regulatory approvals.
"KBR looks forward to collaborating with Keppel and Aster on this critical project, supporting Singapore's ambition to become a leading SAF hub in Asia and advancing the decarbonization efforts of the country's aviation ecosystem," said Stuart Bradie, KBR President and Chief Executive Officer. "KBR's PureSAF is a feedstock-flexible, bankable technology designed to achieve 100% direct replacement of aviation kerosene, powering aircraft without the need for blending. KBR continues to innovate SAF solutions to adapt to feedstock availability in different regions and help the aviation industry transition to low-carbon aviation fuels in a cost-optimized manner."
Additionally, KBR has signed a memorandum of intent with Keppel's infrastructure division to collaborate on decarbonization in the energy transition technology space, particularly in waste-to-energy, plastic recycling, biofuels, SAF, and AI-driven digitalization.
