en.Wedoany.com Reported - Malaysian company FatHopes Energy and Vietnam Oil Corporation (PVOIL) have announced a strategic partnership to build Vietnam's first nationwide used cooking oil (UCO) collection and traceability ecosystem, leveraging FatHopes Energy's proprietary technology and its upcoming refinery. The initiative will convert waste oils into renewable feedstocks for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and other advanced biofuels, supporting both parties' respective sustainable aviation fuel targets.

The collaboration will combine FatHopes Energy's expertise in UCO collection operations, digital traceability technology, and global feedstock supply chain development with PVOIL's network of approximately 1,000 petrol stations across Vietnam, along with its logistics, transportation, and warehousing infrastructure. Collection targets include UCO generated from households, restaurants, industrial kitchens, and seafood processing plants, laying the foundation for circular economy practices in Vietnam.

The two parties will establish an integrated nationwide UCO collection, traceability, and management system, with the project initially launching in Ho Chi Minh City before expanding nationwide. The partnership will drive the collection of over 200,000 tonnes of UCO annually in Vietnam for export to FatHopes Energy, further diversifying its feedstock portfolio. These feedstocks will also feed into FatHopes Energy's upcoming refinery, positioned as a regional hub for processing waste feedstocks into sustainable aviation fuel, offering a plug-and-play regional solution to accelerate aviation decarbonization.

On the technology front, FatHopes Energy's proprietary Waste Recovery Management System (WRMS) will play a central role. This digital platform provides end-to-end traceability throughout the collection process, enabling digital verification of every batch of UCO from its source, meeting international sustainability requirements, and providing transparent data for environmental, social, and governance (ESG) reporting and global certification standards. FatHopes Energy will also transfer its collection methodologies, operational experience, and international best practices accumulated in Southeast Asia to help PVOIL rapidly build a nationwide collection network capable of meeting growing demand.

PVOIL and its collection-focused subsidiary PVOIL Trans will lead the implementation and nationwide rollout of the initiative in Vietnam, working with businesses, communities, and local stakeholders to build one of the country's most comprehensive waste-to-energy collection networks, supporting circular economy practices and environmental governance while supplying high-quality, traceable feedstocks for sustainable aviation fuel production.

The partnership also strengthens regional cooperation between Malaysia and Vietnam in advancing sustainable aviation fuel development. With global SAF demand continuing to grow, Vietnam has the opportunity to become a significant contributor to regional sustainable feedstock supply while supporting its national decarbonization targets and broader energy transition goals. The collaboration also helps enhance Vietnam's position in the emerging global bioeconomy.

Vinesh Sinha, CEO of FatHopes Energy, stated that this partnership is not merely about launching a UCO collection program but about ushering in a new phase of Vietnam's circular economy, turning everyday waste into valuable resources. Combining the company's expertise in digital traceability, feedstock collection, and sustainable aviation fuel supply chains with PVOIL's nationwide reach and operational capabilities will build the infrastructure needed to support Vietnam's energy transition while strengthening Southeast Asia's role in the global sustainable aviation ecosystem. He believes this collaboration will provide a blueprint for regional countries to unlock the value of waste and accelerate decarbonization.

Mai Trung Thanh, Director of PVOIL Trans, a PVOIL subsidiary, stated that the partnership with FatHopes Energy reflects the company's commitment to supporting Vietnam's circular economy transition. By combining the national network with the partner's technology and international expertise, the two parties are creating a modern, transparent collection ecosystem that delivers environmental benefits while driving the future of sustainable aviation fuel in Vietnam.
