en.Wedoany.com Reported - Kazakhstan's KTZ Railway Company held a meeting with Lianyungang officials to finalize the launch of the Aktau International Container Hub.

This hub will connect core logistics nodes between China and Kazakhstan, opening a new cross-border freight route across Eurasia. It is a key implementation project for the China-Kazakhstan joint construction of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and the upgrade of the regional logistics system.

This article is the 372nd installment of the "Kazakhstan Business Guide" series under the Central Asia Industry Research section of the "Resource Engineering Information Ranking." It provides in-depth coverage of industrial policies, laws and regulations, industry trends, market demand, competitive landscape, and potential transaction opportunities in the investment, trade, and engineering construction sectors of five Central Asian countries (Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan) and neighboring countries (Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Mongolia, Pakistan). It offers resource, engineering, and trade information for the Middle East, Africa, and Eastern Europe.

Hub Preparations Nearing Completion, Integrated Logistics System Taking Shape

The meeting was led by KTZ Chairman Aldibergenov and Lianyungang Mayor Zhou Jin. The two sides focused on joint logistics projects and expanding investment cooperation, confirming that all preparatory work for the Aktau International Container Hub has been completed, with operations scheduled to commence in June.

Both sides finalized plans to integrate the Lianyungang Port, Khorgos Dry Port, and the Aktau Hub to establish a unified and coordinated cross-border logistics system, achieving seamless freight connectivity from the Yellow Sea through Kazakhstan and the Caspian Sea to the Caucasus, Turkey, and Europe. They also reaffirmed their consensus on deepening cooperation in building international transport corridors.

Mature China-Kazakhstan Logistics Infrastructure, Impressive Cross-Border Freight Growth

After more than a decade of cooperation, China and Kazakhstan have established a mature cross-border transport system in Central Asia. The Lianyungang Logistics Terminal and Khorgos Border Dry Port, launched in 2014, have become core hubs for transshipment between Asia and Europe.

Freight volumes on the Middle Corridor have grown rapidly, with throughput increasing from less than 1.5 million tons in 2022 to over 3.3 million tons in 2024, achieving a doubling growth.

Kazakhstan has clearly planned to strive for an annual transit freight volume of 74 million tons by 2030, with sustained demand for regional logistics capacity expansion.
